Planning & Development Specialist
City of Macomb
The City of Macomb, Illinois, is hiring a Full-Time Planning and Development Specialist for the
Community Development department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and evaluate development applications including site plans, subdivisions, zoning
requests, annexations, and planned developments
• Prepare planning studies, staff reports, and recommendations for City boards and
commissions
• Assist with implementation of the City's Comprehensive Plan, Strategic Plan, and economic
development initiatives
• Coordinate with developers, engineers, architects, property owners, and other stakeholders
throughout the development process
• Support Tax Increment Financing (TIF), Business Development District (BDD),
redevelopment, and community development incentive programs
• Provide professional assistance to residents and businesses regarding zoning, planning,
and development procedures
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, geography, community
development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Two to five years of municipal planning, community development, or related experience
preferred
• AICP certification, or the ability to obtain, preferred
• Valid Illinois driver's license
• Strong knowledge of zoning, land use, and development regulations
• Residency in McDonough County required
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary: $51,950.47-$69,267.29 annually
