Transit
The City of Macomb, Illinois, is hiring a Full-Time Fleet Technician for the Transit Division.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative maintenance on City transit
vehicles in accordance with IDOT and City standards.
• Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, suspension, steering,
brake, air, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot complex vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic equipment and testing
instruments.
• Repair light- and heavy-duty buses, trucks, and other City fleet vehicles.
• Accurately document repairs, labor, mileage, inspections, and maintenance activities on
work orders.
• Maintain City-owned tools and equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
• Assist with maintaining compliance with IDOT fleet maintenance requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in diesel or automotive technology
preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience repairing heavy-duty buses, trucks, or
similar commercial vehicles.
• Thorough knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, differentials,
suspension, steering, air systems, electrical systems, HVAC, hydraulic systems, and
braking systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and
repair procedures.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with
Passenger Endorsement.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary Range: $49,613.76-$66,255.68
