The City of Macomb, Illinois, is hiring a Full-Time Community Development Director for the Community
Development department.

Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and enforce zoning, building, housing, and property maintenance codes.
• Review development plans, zoning requests, subdivisions, and permits.
• Serve as staff liaison to Planning Commission, ZBA, and Historic Preservation Commission.
• Oversee rental inspections, neighborhood preservation, and code enforcement.
• Manage TIF Districts, Business Development District, Enterprise Zone, revolving loan program,
and housing grants.
• Prepare community development and housing grant applications.
• Serve as City Plat Officer and respond to zoning/development inquiries.
• Collaborate with MAEDCO, WIU, and regional partners; prepare reports and policy
recommendations.

Qualifications
• Education, training, and/or experience in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a
related field.
• AICP or PCED certification preferred
• At least five years of experience in community development, planning, or a related municipal
role (seven preferred).
• Strong knowledge of zoning, subdivision, building, housing, and property maintenance codes.
• Effective communicator able to work well with city staff, developers, business owners, and the
public.
• Must live within the McDonough County.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary Range: $74,537.64-$99,383.51
• Comprehensive benefits include vacation, personal and sick leave, paid holidays, IMRF
participation, health insurance with single coverage paid by the City, optional dental/vision, life
insurance, 457(b) with 1% City match, and flexible spending options.
