PRIMARY FUNCTION:  
The Director of Marketing develops, executes, and analyzes strategic marketing and communications for the college.  Oversees the planning and implementation of all Spoon River College marketing activities to drive SRC’s enrollment and fundraising goals.  This position manages a consistent image and message for the institution that promotes the college and its mission.  
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Conceptualizes, evaluates, and implements communication strategies and priorities in support of strategic planning efforts.  
2.Leads the College in creating institutional marketing and branding for all communication and publication efforts including those used for student recruitment, athletics, institutional advancement, and employer branding.  Directs the creative vision for advertising campaigns for both enrollment and the institutional image.  
3.Works with the Online Services Coordinator to coordinate the content and overall look and feel of the SRC website.  
4.Manages the College’s social media marketing strategy. 
5.Remains current with all campus and program information, including new or complex program offerings.  
6.Develop and execute strategic marketing plans for activities that drive enrollment for the college.   
7.Supervises department staff to include planning, assigning, and directing work, and performance evaluation.  
8.Serves on the Advocates for College Enrollment Committee.
9.Manages the department budget and fiscal operations of the marketing department.  
10.Assist the Crisis Response Team with emergency communication responses and contributes to the development and updating of emergency communication plans.  
11.Coordinates and oversees external marketing/printing contracts to ensure institutional expectations are realized.  
12.Serves as the editor and/or coordinator of all college publications including but not limited to marketing brochures, social media outreach, postcards, college catalogs, lit signs, and newsletters.
13.Collects, analyzes, and reports data on marketing campaigns and other activities.  Supports key initiatives identified by the strategic plan. Monitors plan, provides regular updates, and reports on progress and outcomes to the President and others as needed.     
14.Coordinates all digital marketing efforts including strategy development and implementation of targeted digital campaigns.  
15.Collaborates with departments on video creation, social media efforts, website content, online streaming, signage, vinyl graphics, and other special projects to enhance the College.   
16.Serves as the primary contact for all media inquiries and works to establish the College as a content resource in the local market.  
17.Devises and coordinates schedules to ensure timely production of materials, accuracy of content, quality, and efficiency.  
18.Maintains the integrity of SRC’s visual guidelines.   
19.Proactively identify opportunities to build and protect the college’s image and reputation.   
20.Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May supervise marketing staff and student employees.

1.A Bachelor’s degree is required.  
2.Three years of related experience is required.   Supervisory experience is preferred.   
3.Experience with Adobe business products including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro required.
4.Experience using WordPress is preferred.  
5.Demonstrated writing, editing, and effective coordination with marketing and printing organizations in areas of responsibility is required.
6.Communication experience reflecting a wide range of skills and abilities is required.
7.Experience in managing strategic brand marketing or advertising programs is required.
8.Experience in implementing comprehensive social media marketing programs is required. Experience in higher education marketing is preferred.
9.Experience in video content creation and editing is required.   
10.Personal computer expertise with an emphasis in design program applications (Adobe Creative Suite) is preferred.
11.Experience in publication and media production, along with knowledge of website development is preferred. 
12.Must possess organizational abilities and superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
13.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and write routine correspondence is preferred.  
14.Ability to speak effectively before groups is required. 
15.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is preferred.
16.Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities; deal with conflict appropriately; withstand pressure and remain calm in tense situations, accurate; flexible; dependable; responsible; promotes teamwork; demonstrates a positive attitude is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physical demands for this position include the ability to regularly sit, use hands and fingers, talk and hear.  This position requires limited standing, walking, reaching, stooping/kneeling.  Vision requirements for this position include close vision including the ability to view text from a computer monitor.

The work environment for this position includes a typical office environment with no extremes in temperature, noise, and limited physical risk.
