Precision Ag Instructor, Part-time

Spoon River College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Adjunct Instructor for Precision Agriculture Courses. 

The 8-week tentative schedule for the Precision AG classes for the Spring Semester is as follows:

  • ABM151- Precision Agriculture-Hardware, 1st 4 weeks 1/13/25-2/7/25, 8:00-10:30 AM
  • ABM152- Precision Agriculture-Software, 2nd 4 weeks 2/10/25-3/7/25, 8:00-10:30 AM

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  
Part-time faculty instruct students, participate in appropriate curricular and co-curricular assignments and functions, and perform the necessary administrative obligations. 

Part-Time Instructor Salary Schedule
Level I: Part-time instructors who have 0-8 semesters or 0-36 credits of college teaching experience or equivalent occupational experience will receive $750 per contact hour
Level II: Part-time instructors who have 9+ semesters or 37 or more credits teaching experience or equivalent occupational experience will receive $850 per contact hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Plans and teaches courses in assigned course.

2.Prepares syllabi, instruction materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and evaluates.

3.Maintains highest possible standards of classroom instruction.

4.Keeps abreast of new information and developments in field of instruction.

5.Actively serves on college committees.

6.Actively participates in institutional meetings.

7.Maintains professional skills through regular professional development, and other activities appropriate to higher education faculty.

8.Assists with the development of curriculum.

9.Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1.Minimum of 2 years current related work experience is required. 

2.Associate degree or higher a regionally accredited institution preferred.  Completion of an Associate degree, certificate, or certification may be required within 3 years of hire.

3.Must have demonstrated teaching competence in field of instruction.

4.Demonstrated ability to use technology in teaching is required.

5.Familiarity with basic online academic technology, such as Canvas is preferred.

6.Experience in teaching in field of instruction is preferred. 

7.Two years of college teaching with community college experience in field of instruction is preferred.

Physical demands for this position include the ability to regularly sit, use hands and fingers, talk and hear.  This position requires limited standing, walking, reaching, stooping / kneeling. Vision requirements for this position include close vision including the ability to view text from a computer monitor. This position requires some driving, the majority of which is within the College district.

Work environment for this position includes typical office environment with no extremes in temperature, noise, and limited physical risk.
