Director of Clinical Services
Position Summary
Lead the clinical program. The Director of Clinical Services is accountable for all nursing
and caregiver services, staffing schedules, financial aspects of clinical operations
(including staffing and supplies), reimbursement oversight, clinical outcomes, and
regulatory readiness.
Key Responsibilities
· • Lead, schedule, and directly supervise RNs/LPNs/Med Techs/Caregivers; set staff
performance standards and run clinical huddles.
· • Manage and optimize nursing and caregiver schedules for coverage, cost-efficiency,
and quality outcomes.
· • Take ownership of the clinical budget: staffing labor costs, supplies, meds, and other
operational expenditures.
· • Monitor reimbursement per resident by aligning clinical services to care plan
packages and payer expectations.
· • Oversee assessments, service plans, and outcomes; ensure RN participation as
required and maintain documentation.
· • Ensure safe and compliant medication systems: procurement, storage, labeling,
administration, and documentation.
· • Own staff onboarding, annual competencies, and in-services for all clinical and
caregiver staff.
· • Maintain full compliance with Illinois Assisted Living and Shared Housing Act and
Administrative Code Part 295.
· • Coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, and home health/hospice; ensure prompt
family communication for care changes.
· • Chair Quality/Risk/Infection Control committees; analyze incidents, trends, and
corrective actions.
· • Collaborate with the Executive Director on census, clinical service pricing, acuity, and
labor management.
Must-Have Qualifications
· • Registered Nurse (RN) with active Illinois license in good standing.

· • Leadership experience managing licensed and non-licensed staff in assisted living,
long-term care, or healthcare settings.
· • Knowledge of Illinois Assisted Living regulations (77 Ill. Adm. Code Part 295) and
Assisted Living & Shared Housing Act (210 ILCS 9).
· • Understanding of Illinois Nurse Practice Act and delegation standards.
· • Proven success in staffing oversight, budgeting, and reimbursement processes.
· • Strong communication, leadership, and process management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· • Experience leading survey-ready clinical teams.
· • Familiarity with electronic MAR/EHR systems and quality dashboards.
· • Certifications in gerontology, dementia care, wound care, or infection prevention.
