The City of Macomb, Illinois, is hiring a Building Inspector in the Community Development
Department.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct residential, commercial, and industrial building inspections to ensure compliance
with applicable building and property maintenance codes.
• Review permits, construction plans, and site developments for compliance with City
ordinances and regulations.
• Investigate complaints, document violations, and coordinate corrective actions with
property owners and contractors.
• Provide guidance and customer service to residents, contractors, and developers regarding
permitting and code requirements.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, enforcement documentation, and related reports
using City software systems.

Requirements:
• Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; related construction, inspection, or code
enforcement experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.
• ICC certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of employment.

Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary: $49,691.76-$66,255.68 annually
