Seasonal Stewardship Tech

This is a summer seasonal position with Prairie Land Conservancy, an accredited land trust serving west-central IL. Currently the job opportunity is a part-time position from mid-May through the end of August. Hours will be 20 hours/week with the possibility of hours/week increasing if funding and other resources are available. Between Mid-May and June 1st stewardship tech(s) will obtain an herbicide certificate. Normal job role responsibilities will start at the beginning of June. The hourly wage starts at $15/hr. A higher wage may be considered for exceptionally qualified applicants. Stewardship tech(s) will be a part of a 2-3 person crew, working very closely with the Stewardship Coordinator. 

Position roles include working outdoors in all types of weather (i.e. high humidity, high temperature), in tall-grass prairies, and in woodlands performing restoration and maintenance activities. Role examples include brush cutting trails, clearing trails with a chainsaw, installing signs, backpack foliar spraying, and UTV foliar spraying. There may be a need to work a few Saturdays for program support. Prairie Land Conservancy is proud to maintain four public-access natural areas and perform restoration on several PLC & IDNR sites.
