Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

As of March 1, 2018, McDonough County residents have access to increased emergency response staff and equipment thanks to McDonough District Hospital’s partnership with Lifeguard Ambulance Service.

Lifeguard brings two brand new ambulances, a 12-hour truck during peak times per day 365 days per year, and a chief paramedic who will have access to a Quick Response Vehicle (QRV). This new equipment brings the total to six vehicles and an overall increase in available coverage.

Lifeguard Ambulance Service began in the 1990's by serving one community with one ambulance. Now they serve communities in eight different states out of 20 different operations with a focus on meeting the specific needs of each individual community.
