Janitorial/Food Pick Up Driver

Essential Functions:

Maintenance Responsibilities:

Ensure all corps equipment and properties are maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner. Those responsibilities will include tasks such as general maintenance, vacuum, sweep, mop, wax and buff floors as needed.
Maintain appropriate levels of supplies as needed for operations.
Assist with all aspects of Christmas, Kettles & Toy shop as needed.
Set up and tear down rooms for regular and special events and meetings as needed.

Food Pickup Responsibilities

When driving, conduct daily pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, maintain the interior and exterior of the truck/van in a clean and safe condition, monitoring and scheduling routine maintenance and alerting of necessary repairs or safety concern.
Responsible for picking up and delivering donated and purchased goods on scheduled days as route is planned. The driver’s responsibilities include loading and unloading the items along with the safe handling of goods, materials, property and vehicles.
Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army’s “Safe from Harm” Certification.
Perform other duties as assigned as related to work in Janitorial and Community Food responsibilities.

Position Ranking:

Regular Part-Time, Non-exempt. 25 hours per week.

Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver’s license.


Education: High School graduate or equivalent. One year of related experience.


Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must be able to lift, carry and or move 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50+ pounds occassionally. He/she must be able to operate light and heavy materials, floor, and other maintenance equipment on a regular basis. Office work environment with low to moderate noise levels; industrial building work areas such as boiler and equipment rooms with moderate to loud noise levels; outside work areas with small to mid-size motors with moderate to loud noise levels.
