Marketing Associate-Quad Cities • Work Department: University Communications, Marketing and Media Relations • Class Title/Code: https://www.sucss.illinois.gov/pages/classspec/Detail.aspx?tblClassIndexID=3696 (5004) • Effective Date: Jan 7, 2022 • Responsibilities: Employees in positions allocated to this classification are responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and communication tactics that strengthen the university brand and/or programs, and enhance recruiting and retention efforts including, but not limited to: marketing analyzation, coordination of marketing events and campaigns, website content management, project management, social media management, graphic design, and dissemination of information affecting the University to media, public relations, and creating digital and print materials. This position at Western Illinois University is based on the WIU-Quad Cities campus. The position may be required to attend meetings and functions on the main campus in Macomb, Illinois, as well as attending occasional promotional events after hours or on the weekends. • develops and implements comprehensive marketing and communications for various audiences including prospective students, alumni, current students, event promotions, outreach publications, etc.; • works with University marketing team to brand and manage WIU-QC specific marketing campaigns, enhance visual branding and WIU-QC's online digital presence; • develops, organizes, and disseminates innovative marketing materials for various channels, with the ability to multitask effectively; • plans and coordinates informational and public relations activities, community sponsorships and works with QC and regional media to promote and publicize WIU students, faculty, staff, programs and events; • develops and evaluates marketing and advertising materials for websites, news releases, traditional and digital publications, community events, and other media communication vehicles in pursuit of strategic intent including design, layout, promotional materials, and special publications; • develops or edits visual media or graphic elements of publications or web pages; • directs social media efforts for the Quad Cities campus including enhancing the web presence and maintaining both internal and external communications; stays current on social media and emerging platforms/tech/strategies; • determines method of dissemination regarding information provided to local, regional, state, and national media and multimedia sources • works closely with the University marketing team members and contributors to identify, pursue, write, and edit relevant marketing materials and to facilitate campaign goals; • tracks and analyzes website and social media statistics for optimization; measures social media analytics; reports and recommends changes in social media strategy; • establishes and cultivates relationships with the university community including alumni, donors, students, campus groups, faculty, and staff, as well as community leaders and partners; assists with identification of new partnerships; • oversees marketing-related department equipment (camera, banners, tablecloths and other promotional materials, etc.); • performs other related duties as assigned. • Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, instructional design and technology, graphic communications, public relations, or a closely related field. • One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public/media relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area. Demonstrated marketing experience preferred. • Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required. Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience. • Starting Salary: $3538/mo • Application Deadline: Jan 28, 2022 • Additional Information: This position is based on the WIU-QC Moline campus and is an in person position.
