IT Systems Support Specialist – Managed Services

As our IT Support Specialist, you'll support both the technology that powers MTC and the systems that keep our business customers connected, secure, and productive.

One day you might be helping an employee troubleshoot a workstation issue. The next, you could be assisting a local business with a network configuration, server upgrade, cybersecurity enhancement, or cloud solution. What This Role Is All About

This is a dual-focus role supporting both MTC's internal technology environment and the managed IT environments of our business customers. You'll function as part of the IT team for multiple organizations, helping local businesses maintain reliable, secure, and efficient technology systems while ensuring MTC's own infrastructure remains strong and dependable.

This position also contributes to MTC's mission of delivering dependable communications and technology services that help our region stay connected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and provide Tier 1 support for desktops, laptops, operating systems, software, and peripherals.
  • Support server hardware, virtualization environments, storage systems, and backup solutions.
  • Assist with network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, wireless systems, Ethernet, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Support digital, analog, and VoIP phone systems and security camera systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate repairs with vendors as needed.
  • Assist with technology procurement and implementation projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to employees and managed IT clients.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for Helpdesk and IT Technician staff.
  • Educate users on technology procedures, cybersecurity awareness, and best practices.
  • Provide remote and onsite IT support to managed services clients, serving as a trusted technology resource for their day-to-day operations.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with local business customers while delivering responsive technical support.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance windows .

What You Bring

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • One year of IT experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux, macOS, and mobile operating systems.
  • Experience with hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN networking, routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms, backup solutions, and server environments.
  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer locations as needed.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the upper end of the pay range.
