City of Macomb Business Office Director

The City of Macomb, Illinois, home of Western Illinois University, is seeking an experienced Business Office Director.  This is an administrative position responsible for the operation of the Business Office and Utility Collection.  This position is responsible for coordinating the daily functions of the Business Office including:  financial and recordkeeping functions, payroll, insurance, monitoring revenues and expenditures, property and equipment inventory, fixed assets, pensions, City investments, accounts payable and receivable, and utilities.   
The Director is also responsible for assessing and evaluating the financial performance of the organization and providing regular reports to the Mayor, Council and City Administrator, managing overall financial operations to ensure accuracy in reporting and compliance with regulatory and City requirements, coordinating audits, assisting in preparations of the Tax Levy and annual City Budget, and overseeing the work of the Business Office employees.
Minimum training and experience required include:  bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related curriculum and five years related job experience; knowledge of advanced accounting principles and practices, governmental fund accounting, maintaining journals, financial records, and general office practices; and advanced experience with Microsoft Office and other financial computer systems.   
McDonough County residency will be required, along with a pre-employment physical, lower back x-ray, drug screen and background investigation.  The salary range for this position is $63,067.76 - $84,090.35 DOQ.  Full benefit package.
