Financial Aid Associate • Work Department: Financial Aid Office • Class Title/Code: (5011) • Effective Date: Mar 21, 2023 • Responsibilities: • Supervises all phases of operation of student financial aid programs (including, but not limited to, edits, verification, changes/corrections, packaging, and eligibility determination and monitoring, awarding, over award monitoring and disbursement of aid). • Provides technical expertise, researchers reference to resolve technical problems or questions and alerts their supervisor to unresolved technical problems. • Responsible for developing training materials and conducting formal training within their office or department. Coordinates financial aid processing with external agencies and assists in complying with reporting requirements. • Responsible for the counseling and evaluation of determining aid eligibility for educational costs to attend Western Illinois University. • Participates in activities of various professional organizations to stay current with strategic partner needs and provides feedback concerning operational needs to administer student financial aid. • Performs duties of the lower-level in this series (i.e. Financial Aid Representative, Financial Aid Coordinator/Manager). • Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, humanities, social sciences, or a closely related field to the position. • One (1) year of professional experience working in student services, financial aid/loans or a closely related field within higher education or a related agency. • One (1) year of supervisory experience. *Note Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience. • Starting Salary: $3,368/month • Application Deadline: Jun 30, 2023 • Additional Information: WIU is currently advertising this position for future employment opportunities in the Financial Aid Department.
