The City of Macomb is seeking a Full-Time Wastewater Maintenance/Operator I (in training) to join
our Wastewater Division.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and repair wastewater treatment plant and collection system infrastructure.
• Perform manual labor to support assigned tasks.
• Operate small equipment and hand tools.
• Follow all safety procedures and use safe work practices.
• Set up barricades and railings to secure work zones.
• Respond to emergencies as part of Public Works protocols.
• Assist with plant operations or J.U.L.I.E. locates if qualified; may work independently.
Requirements:
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, climbing, and
crawling.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and methods used in public works tasks.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with others and the public
• Valid Illinois driver’s license and willingness to attend training and earn certifications.
• Residency in McDonough County required
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary: $35,501.27-$47,335.02
