Salary Range: $40,000.00 to $40,000.00 Annually
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Student Support Services Grant Advisor provides advising services to individuals identified as TRIO-Student Support Services (SSS) grant participants.  Coordinates retention initiatives and student activities for all students attending designated campus.  
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Provides continuous academic, career, financial aid, financial literacy, and transfer advising. 
2.    Conducts presentations to recruit prospective students to the program including, but not limited to, new student orientations, classroom visits, and student organization meetings.
3.    Assesses and collaborates with each participant to develop and maintain an Annual Individual Academic and Service Plan.  
4.    Conducts and develops student success, academic skills, financial literacy, transfer, and career development-focused workshops and seminars for SSS students.
5.    Coordinates and implements retention and student success initiatives.
6.    Plans and coordinates student activities in cooperation with other student organizations.
7.    Facilitates orientation sessions, activities, and seminars related to student support services.
8.    Assists with SSS program participant selection process.
9.    Assists with collecting and providing data/information for grant reports.
10.    Provides support and documentation to maintain project compliance with appropriate federal regulations and institutional policies and procedures.
11.    Provides project orientation to eligible SSS participants.
12.    Enters SSS participant data and records/services in SSS project database to meet U.S. Department of Education reporting requirements.
13.    Monitors degree progress tracking SSS participants' academic performance and completion of their program of study.
14.    Coordinates instructor referrals and communications regarding SSS participant’s academic progress.
15.    Plans and accompanies SSS participants on visits to possible transfer colleges/universities and/or approved SSS project cultural activities.
16.    Assists in identifying and selecting TRIO Scholarship participants.
17.    Assists project director with annual performance report.
18.    Assists project director with tracking project participants related to transfer and academic performance.
19.    Assistance with and attendance at commencement is required annually or at minimum on a pre-approved scheduled basis.
20.    Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

1.    Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in: advising students, managing data, financial literacy education, developing curriculum; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties is required.  
2.    Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative is required.
3.    Organizational abilities and superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.
4.    Experience using Microsoft applications with a high degree of accuracy and personal computer skills is required.
5.    Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities; deal with conflict appropriately; withstand pressure and remain calm in tense situations, accurate; flexible; dependable; responsible; promotes teamwork; demonstrates a positive attitude is preferred.
6.    A background similar to SSS participants is preferred. Preference is given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the program’s target population.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physical demands for this position include the ability to regularly sit, use hands and fingers, talk and hear.  This position requires limited standing, walking, reaching, stooping/kneeling.  Vision requirements for this position include close vision including the ability to view text from a computer monitor. This position requires some driving for field trips and cultural activities.
The work environment for this position includes a typical office environment with no extremes in temperature, noise, and limited physical risk.
