PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Macomb Campus Assistant performs a combination of receptionist, clerical, and student-related services for the Macomb campus with a focus on Business Office and Snapper Supply Store responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs reception duties such as screening and receiving visitors and incoming telephone calls. Serves as a resource person for students and guests by answering questions about programs and/or services, or directing questions to the appropriate person and/or department. 2. Performs clerical duties such as calendar maintenance, meeting coordination, prioritizing and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, filing, typing, proofreading, and other related duties. 3. Receives and records tuition payments as well as fees for testing, transcripts, graduation, etc. Possesses a working knowledge of the Nelnet/FACTS tuition management plan and provides general information about the program to students. 4. Possesses a working knowledge of the Course and Fee Statement and provides assistance and explanation to students regarding charges, payments, and financial aid applications toward the student account. 5. Removes business office holds from student accounts as necessary. 6. Coordinates the operation of the Snapper Supply Store, including assisting customers, operating the cash register, balancing the cash drawer, and maintaining related records. Responsible for the ordering, receiving, displaying, and maintaining the neatness and cleanliness of merchandise in coordination with the College Bookstore. 7. Assists with College Bookstore functions as needed, including receiving and distributing orders, assisting students with online book ordering, returning textbook rentals, and facilitating book buy-back activities. 8. Performs cash handling functions, per college policies and procedures, such as cash drawer maintenance, collection, and reconciliation of funds generated from tuition and/or bookstore payments. 9. Assists with the organization and maintenance of working syllabi files and faculty office schedules. 10. Assists with the maintenance of the master syllabi and template changes. 11. Assists with accessibility review of academic and college (as needed) materials, including video captioning. 12. May assist with room scheduling for courses and internal/external events, as well as assist the Learning Resource Center, Student Services, and club advisors with the coordination and set-up of campus events and activities. 13. Maintains files, records, and other documents while protecting the confidentiality, security, and permanency of records. 14. May serve as a backup to various departments, including but not limited to the Learning Resource Center, Instruction, and Student Services. 15. Provides receptionist and clerical assistance in various offices at the Macomb Campus on an as-needed basis, as assigned by the supervisor to accommodate the needs requested. 16. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An associate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred. 2. One year of related experience is preferred. 3. Basic cash handling and reconciliation skills is required. 4. Experience with billing/accounts receivable is required. 5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, instructions, and manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups. 6. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to count units of money. 7. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 8. Experience using Microsoft applications with a high degree of accuracy and personal computer skills is required. 9. Superior organizational, interpersonal, client service, and communication skills are required. 10. Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities; deal with conflict appropriately; withstand pressure and remain calm in tense situations, accurate, flexible, dependable, responsible; promotes teamwork; demonstrates a positive attitude is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demands for this position include the ability to regularly sit, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear. This position requires limited standing, walking, reaching, stooping / kneeling. Vision requirements for this position include close vision, including the ability to view text from a computer monitor. Work environment for this position includes a typical office environment with no extremes in temperature, noise, and limited physical risk.
