Accounting Associate/Payroll Department Western Illinois University Work Department: Payroll Department Class Title/Code: Accounting Associate (5000) Effective Date: Apr 28, 2021 Responsibilities: This position develops and controls all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization's objectives and facilitates relationships with University employees and departments, internal and external auditors, vendors, regulatory agencies and non-University groups. • Manages payroll operations ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies as well as collective bargaining agreements. • Serves as the primary liaison with programmers to facilitate changes/upgrades to the payroll system • Develops and implements policies and procedures • Identifies and implements opportunities for ongoing business process improvement to improve accuracy and efficiency of operations to include improving internal control • Serves as a coordination point for all campus constituencies seeking assistance with payroll issues. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major in Accountancy or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting experience. OR Possession of current registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant, or a valid license to practice Public Accounting (LPA). OR Master's degree in Accountancy or a related field.
