The Brix Challenge 2024
The 11th annual Brix Challenge: A NON-event, BIG-event for the Humane Society of McDonough County
It’s time for another Brix Challenge, raising funds for the ANNUAL OPERATING costs of the HSMC. If you love to help animals in need and you love keeping life easy, participating in the Brix Challenge is the easiest way to do both from the comforts of your own home. This community challenge is the biggest event to raise funds for the HSMC’s annual operating costs and the easiest way to be a part of saving lives and helping animals in need right now! All funds raised during the Brix Challenge, NOW THROUGH OCTOBER 31, will be used by the HSMC for its ongoing programs to help animals in need in McDonough County. Those costs range from $40,000 to $50,000 annually. Costs and needs keep rising every year. We know from your
tremendous support in the past that Chris and Pee Wee’s challenge can be met once again (maybe we can break the record). NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL TO HELP!
The HSMC is a 100% volunteer organization supported entirely on memberships, donations and gifts. While much of our work supports the county-run animal shelter we are a separate entity from the county animal
shelter. We are committed to furthering our vision to provide humane care and treatment for all cats and dogs in the county, and rely on continuous financial support to do so.
The Brix Challenge directs 100% of the donated funds to the HSMC’s annual budget, covering the costs of the HSMC’s services to animals and to pet owners, as well as support and assistance to animals at the
McDonough County Animal Shelter.
Support of the McDonough County Animal Shelter includes:
* adoption promotion and sponsorship;
* provision of needed specialized medical care;
* assistance with spay/neuter costs and cat vaccines;
* a rescue/foster/adoption program;
* provision of shelter equipment and amenities for the animals.
Additional HSMC initiatives to help pet owners and address the county’s cat overpopulation program include:
* spay/neuter initiatives;
* the Angel Fund which provides county veterinarian clinics with discretionary funds to help people in
financial duress with pet medical emergencies;
* the pet food pantry which provides pet food and supplies to people in need.
Your participation in the Brix Challenge you will guarantee the continuation of the HSMC’s important programs and projects, knowing that your generosity will directly touch the lives of animals who need it now and in the coming year. Thank you so much for that! Please help even further by sharing the details of the Brix Challenge with family, friends and on your social media.
