DESCRIPTION:The Western Illinois University School of Music and the Western Horn Institute will present the annual WIU Horn Festival from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday\, April 3 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.\n\n\n\nThe event will include a group warm-up\, masterclasses\, horn choir\, interactive sessions and performances. This year's guest artist is University of Tennessee\, Knoxville Professor of Horn Katie Johnson-Webb. Other artists include Stasia Siena\; Faculty Assistant Joanne Chang\; WIU Professor Emeritus Randall Faust\; and WIU Assistant Professor Jena Gardner.\n\n\n\nAll ages and abilities are welcome.\n\n\n\nThis year's schedule includes:\n\n9 a.m. - Group warmup - Gardner\n\n10 a.m. - Horn Festival Choir Rehearsal - Faust\n\n11 a.m. | Guest Artist Masterclass with Roger Collins Award Finalists - Johnson-Webb\n\n12:30 p.m. - Lunch\n\n1:30 p.m. - Alexander Technique for Horn Players - Siena\n\n2:30 p.m. - Break\n\n3 p.m. - Final Concert - Johnson-Webb\, horn\; Chang\, piano\, and the WIU Horn Festival Choir\n\nThis event is hosted by Jena Gardner and sponsored by the WIU Horn Institute.\n\n\n\nJohnson-Webb frequently performs with the Knoxville Symphony and other regional ensembles. In past years\, she was selected to perform with the Aspen Summer Music Festival in Aspen\, CO\, the Kent/Blossom Music Festival in Kent\, OH\, and the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge\, CO. She has also given recitals and masterclasses across the United States and Canada\, and release her first CD\, "La Loba" in May 2020.
