DESCRIPTION:MACOMB\, IL   Western Illinois University will host a faculty panel discussion to provide historical\, geopolitical and religious context for the ongoing situation in Ukraine from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday\, March 24 in the University Union's Sandburg Theater.\n\n\n\nWIU Department of History Interim Chair Tim Roberts will moderate three brief presentations\, followed by a discussion and question and answer session.\n\n\n\nPanelists include:\n\n\n\n  Liberal Arts and Sciences Coordinator and Religious Studies Professor Betsy Perabo\, who has taught at WIU since 2005. Her research focuses on religion and war and she is the author of "Russian Orthodoxy and the Russo-Japanese War" (Bloomsbury\, 2017).\n\n\n\n  History Professor Richard Filipink\, who has taught at WIU since 2006. His research focus is Cold War American political and diplomatic history. He is the author of "Dwight Eisenhower and American Foreign Policy During the 1960s" (Lexington\, 2016).\n\n\n\n  Political Science Associate Professor Gregory Baldi\, who teaches courses on European and comparative politics.
